Our client was the owner of a relatively new dwelling on a modern housing estate. They contacted us following an unsuccessful planning application which had been submitted by another agent.

The property was a two-storey detached dwelling with a simple side to side single ridged roof creating two side gables.  The houses on either side of the property are similar in size and appearance. The proposal was to raise the ridge of the roof by approximately one metre which increased the pitch of the roof and, together with the proposed rear dormers, allowed additional bedroom accommodation to be provided in the roof space for the growing family’s needs.

We considered the reasons for refusal and the options available to the applicant and advised them accordingly. We were instructed to lodge an appeal and provided a detailed supporting statement of case. The appeal was successful and planning permission was granted.
