Our client had been informed by a fire officer that they needed to upgrade their fire precautions within this listed building. The building was a two-storey restaurant and due to the age of the building and the fire precautions which were in place on the existing doors, the smoke seals and intumescent strips had perished over time.

We carried out a measured survey of the building and produced a set of scheme drawings. Listed Building Consent was sought and permission was granted. Building Control Approval was also gained. The proposal included replacing these intumescent strips and smoke seals and providing additional timber sections to the doors where necessary. The refurbished doors were finally coated in a fire retardant lacquer.
